aws BoB is organised by aws Life Science Austria (LISA), a programme of Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws), on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy (BMAW). The competition has been held since 2000 and is conducted in collaboration with the Austrian life science clusters, AplusB centres and international partners. In 2025, BoB will enter the next round in an updated form.

• Motivation of scientists and other creative people in the life sciences to undertake entrepreneurial activities
• Support through feedback on the submitted business ideas by experts in the life sciences field with extensive experience in patents, finance, and entrepreneurship
• High visibility of winners in the life science community and networking opportunities
• Exploitation of application-oriented scientific research and innovation
• Reinforcement of Austria and Central Europe as life sciences business incubators
• New projects for aws PreSeed and aws Seedfinancing

BoB is open to students, researchers, and teams or individuals from around the world who aim to turn their ideas into businesses, as well as young start-ups up to 3 years old (founded after March 31, 2022).
