35 years long, Austria’s high school students have been proving that innovation is not only something for “grown-ups” by presenting ingenious ideas and developments as part of Innovative Youth and thereby demonstrating their own creative and innovative potential.
Students from general secondary schools (AHS), intermediate and higher-level vocational schools (BMHS), Austrian schools abroad (see list from Feder Ministry of Education, Science and Research) and polytechnic schools (PTS) as well as apprentices from vocational schools (BS) as of their 1st year are invited to submit their project ideas and associated (research) findings in the categories of
- Design
- Engineering
- Science
- Young Entrepreneurs
- Sustainability
- ICT & Digital
The best 10–15 projects in each category will be submitted to the Innovative Youth expert jury for review and evaluated per category. The ranking and jury result will determine which of the project teams is able to advance to the national final. During the national final, no more than 35 project teams in the 6 categories will have the opportunity to win the coveted main and audience prizes – cash prizes totalling 40,000 euros and trips to international competitions, trade fairs and seminars.
Digi- or Eco-Bonus
All teams from all categories participating in the competition will get the chance to win a 300 euros projectbonus (Digi- or Eco-Bonus) for the conceptual digital or sustainable development of the submitted project.
Innovative Youth encourages research, experimentation, meticulousness, design and lateral thinking. All details about participating as well as information on the competition itself can be found at www.jugendinnovativ.at.
