The new EU Programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (COSME), which is being offered for the 2014 - 2020 period, is intended to mobilise loans and equity investments for SME in Europe.

The InnovFin SME loan guarantee facility of the European Commission is intended for research-oriented, innovative Austrian SME and mid-caps (with fewer than 500 employees). The goal is to encourage banks to provide financing for this InnovFin target group through aws guarantees.
